Headshots

Last week we had a photographer flown in from NYC to take professional headshots for the entire staff.  These are the results from my time in front of the lens.

Nashville Du Run Run

Note to all,

Multi-sport athletes are studs.  People that train and race in duathlons and triathlons have my kudos now and forever.

I ran the Nashville Du Run Run this past Sunday morning.  I can't think of a better excuse to miss church.

"So where were you Sunday morning?  … Sleep in?"

"Actually I ran two miles in 90 degree weather, hopped on the bike for a 10 miler, then decided to top it off with another two mile run in the aforementioned weather.  Which, by the way, climbed to 95 by the time I was finished.  So no… I did not sleep in."

It should also be noted that 7 out of every 10 Sundays, I am in fact probably sleeping in.

My goal was to finish the race in under 1:00 hour.  Thinking I would run an 7:30 per mile for 4 miles and ride the 10 miles in 30 minutes.

I ran the first two miles at 6:55 pace, finished the bike in 30:44, and ran out of gas for the last two miles at an 8:15 pace.  I finished 4th in my age group and 51st overall.  Check out the results here.

Warren Buffett wagers $1,000,000 on S&P 500

oracleofomaha

Warren Buffett, the world's richest man, made a bet with some high-falutin' hedge fund managers in NYC that they couldn't outperform the S&P 500 over the next 9 years.  USA Today reports that the Oracle of Omaha put in $320,000 of his own money in the wager.  I have no idea where the rest of the money ($680,000) will come from…  The loser, be it Buffett or hedge fund nerds, must donate $1,000,000 to charity at the end of the contest.

My money is going with Buffett, literally…  Every month I put a chunk of my paycheck into VFINX, the index fund that tracks the S&P 500.

Just Downloaded the New Coldplay Album and It’s Uh-mazing.

The album leaked last night and I, of course, have no problem shamelessly downloading illegal music.  All I can say is wow.  I love the opening track and the chorus on Cemeteries of London.

This review was pretty spot on.  Viva La Vida has a very "churchy" feel to it.  I've only had a cursory listen.  So far, so good.  It's money.

Internet Celebrity.

gb_nra_signing

Today I made international superstardom on the World Wide Web.  The online book retailer, Premiere Collectibles, has documented my rise to fame on their site.  I think the highlight of this video is my smile.

Occasionally, I'm asked to make road trips with a few authors (insert name drop here) and help run book sales and book-signings.  I really enjoy these trips because I can escape the office for the perfect length of time.  I love our office culture, but it's good to get out and travel every couple months.  I'll be at this event next month, it should be a fun one.

P.S. If you want to stalk celebrities in Nashville, here is your chance.

Here's the video confirming my famousness:
